PVC window screens are either woven from PVC or made with PVC as a component in the material. PVC, short for polyvinyl chloride, is one of the most widely produced plastic products globally. It is inexpensive and widely used. PVC resin appears as a white or light yellow powder. By adding various additives depending on specific applications, PVC plastics can exhibit different physical and mechanical properties. When appropriate amounts of plasticizers are added to PVC resin, it can be processed into a variety of rigid, flexible, and transparent products. PVC window screens are those made from PVC or using PVC as the primary raw material in their construction. Common types include vinyl screens, plastic screens, and screens with PVC coating over other materials—such as invisible screens or fiberglass screens. For example, fiberglass screens are primarily made of glass fiber coated with plastic, while PVC galvanized screens use zinc-coated materials.

What are the advantages of PVC window screens? One major benefit is their resistance to moisture. Thanks to PVC's waterproof nature, these screens generally do not deteriorate when exposed to water, making this their greatest advantage.

However, they also have drawbacks. PVC is highly sensitive to prolonged sun exposure. After about five years under direct sunlight, the screen may begin to peel or crack.
